My favourite ways to stay Active
It's important to keep active everyday for our mental and physical well being. General recommendations are that you strive for 30 minutes - 1 hour per day. Personally, I love the gym and lifting weights, I get in a trance and I love watching myself progress to higher weights every few weeks. That being said, I haven't been to a gym in years. I plan to get back into fitness after I invest in some weights for at home and I am taking a personal trainer course to teach me proper form and technique.
For the past 7 years I have also been learning the art of pole dancing. I love it because it is can be extremely physically challenging, fun and beautiful. It keeps me interested, and I can see my progress week by week. It took years of training, and consistency to get where I am today. I usually go on and off with my training, few years of dedication, then I take a break for a few months and then get back into it and go hard at it for a while.
Unfortunately right now I have been off training for a few months. Besides daily walks with my dog I don't get much physical exercise. I find it challenging in the winter months to stay motivated with a routine. I plan to start being more dedicated to my fitness in the next few months. Not just for my physical appearance, but because staying active keeps our bodies and minds young and mobile.
I encourage you to explore fun ways to keep yourself and your family active. It doesn't have to be going to the gym, it doesn't even have to be sports related but for at least 30 minutes - 1 hour a day do something that moves your body.
